Chemical engineering is a branch of engineering that applies chemistry, physics, mathematics, environmental sciences, economics, and related disciplines to design chemical processes and to analyze and solve significant industrial, technological, and environmental problems. A chemical engineer is a professional who designs, develops, and operates processes that economically convert raw materials into products through chemical and physical transformations. In this context, the fields of employment for chemical engineers are very broad, including the pharmaceutical, food, cement, textile, automotive, and many other industrial sectors.
The Department of Chemical Engineering at Afyon Kocatepe University began admitting students in 2008. Our department carries out its education, research and development, and practical activities at the Ahmet Necdet Sezer (ANS) Campus.
As the Department of Chemical Engineering at Afyon Kocatepe University, our primary goal is to educate graduates who possess the knowledge and skills required by the chemical engineering profession; who can effectively access both classical and up-to-date sources of information; who are capable of developing new and original methods when existing resources are insufficient; who uphold professional and ethical responsibilities; and who use the knowledge they acquire for the benefit of humanity. To this end, with our dynamic, innovative, dedicated, and determined academic staff, we place great emphasis not only on providing students with the necessary theoretical and practical professional education, but also on directing them toward project-based and teamwork-oriented activities, thereby preparing them as engineer candidates with strong adaptability to professional life after graduation.
In recent years, with the growing recognition of the importance that chemical engineering deserves, the Department of Chemical Engineering at Afyon Kocatepe University has become one of the departments preferred by students for education both nationally and internationally. We invite prospective students who are interested in chemical engineering to join us.
