Chemical Engineering is a branch of engineering concerned with the design, establishment, operation, and improvement of production processes in which the state, composition, or energy content of matter is changed and raw materials are converted into finished products. As a fundamental engineering discipline, chemical engineering is an essential profession required in almost all industrial production processes today.
The Department of Chemical Engineering, established in 2006 within the Faculty of Engineering at Afyon Kocatepe University, began admitting students to its Undergraduate and Master’s programs in the 2008–2009 Academic Year. The department graduated its first undergraduate students in 2012.
The department consists of three main divisions: Unit Operations and Thermodynamics, Process and Reactor Design, and Chemical Technologies. Within these divisions, the academic staff comprises 2 Professors, 2 Associate Professors, 2 Assistant Professors, 1 Research Assistant (PhD), and 1 Research Assistant, totaling 8 academic staff members. In addition, there is one laboratory technician responsible for the departmental laboratories.
